WWT Slimbridge/Slimbridge village     Six CATTLE EGRETS were on South Lake again this morning. They flew off to Slimbridge village as usual to the field immediately adjacent to the A38 roundabout opposite the school and remained there for much of the day. They were back on South Lake at this evening. (Alan Hooper/Mark Grieve/Mark Hobson/Roy Shilham/Terry Webb). Also at the Trust a Dark-bellied Brent Goose again among the Barnacle Geese on the Dumbles. (Slimbridge Sightings). On South Lake, four Snipe, a Grey Wagtail , 110+ Teal, 65+ Shovelers, 25+ Lapwings, 52 Black-tailed Godwits, 50+ Tufted Ducks, a Cetti’s Warbler and six Cormorants. Berkeley shore     Two Turnstones, two Redshanks, a Dunlin, five Lapwings, a Curlew, three Rock Pipits, 69+ Meadow Pipits, six Little Egrets, nine Grey Herons and two Stonechats at high tide this  morning. Painswick Beacon     Passage over the Beacon today included 660 Fieldfares, 160 Redwings, four RING OUZELS, three Hawfinches and 22 Crossbills. (John Fleming).

Ham     A Barn Owl at 5:05pm today. (Paul Taylor).

Twyning     A Kingfisher at lunchtime along the River Avon close to The Fleet in Twyning. (Mike Jones).

Gloucester     At Gloucester Services South a Green Woodpecker today. (Steve Brown).

Newent     Garden birds today included two Coal Tits and 22 Long-tailed Tits. (Alan Hooper).

They flew off at 8:39am and were relocated in Slimbridge village in the field immediately adjacent to the A38 roundabout opposite the school and remained there for much of the day. Frampton     The BITTERN at 8:30am and again mid-morning along the edge of the reedbed in the NE corner of Court Lake but elusive. The MEALY REDPOLL again in the Gravel Wash early afternoon. Symonds Yat     From the viewpoint today the Peregrine pair, a Grey Heron, three Goldcrests, a flock of Long-tailed Tits, Redwings and Jays. Also a Fallow Deer pair. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

WWT Slimbridge/Slimbridge village     Six CATTLE EGRETS were on South Lake again. They flew off just after 9:25am  (Slimbridge Sightings/Tom Weston-McClung) and were relocated in Slimbridge village in the field immediately adjacent to the A38 roundabout. (MK). They were back at Patch Bridge at 4:25pm presumably heading to WWT to roost. (Colin Butters). Also an Avocet from Zeiss hide, a pair of Egyptian Geese on the Rushy this afternoon and a flock of ten Goldcrests along the Holden Walkway. Frampton     A BITTERN at midday along the edge of the reedbed in the NE corner of Court Lake but typically elusive, present until 1pm at least, but no sign again by 3pm. Also a GREAT WHITE EGRET on Court Lake at 11:40am until 1:50pm when it flew off, also three Little Egrets, four Grey Herons, a Water Rail squealing and a Cetti’s Warbler heard. (MK).

Forest of Dean     A GREAT GREY SHRIKE at Crabtree Hill at 8am then flew towards Horse Lawn clearing. Also three Hawfinches and two Crossbills. (Arron Roberts).

Sharpness     A first winter/female BLACK REDSTART was feeding on the buildings at the end of Dock Road beyond Ned West building this morning. (Tom Weston-McClung). Pic by Tom.

Painswick Beacon     Passage over the Beacon today included 11350 Woodpigeons, six Hawfinches, 150 Chaffinches, 200 Goldfinches, 50 Golden Plovers, 320 Fieldfares, 19 Ravens and a male RING OUZEL. (John Fleming).

Winstone     A Short Eared Owl at 6:12pm this evening on the minor road between Winstone and Sapperton, near Park Farm Corner. It stood in the middle of the road briefly and then flew off with prey in its talons towards Bathurst Woods. (Michael Cook).

Tirley Sandpits     56+ Skylarks, 15 Linnets, 13 Blackbirds, four Song Thrushes, two Stonechats, 35+ Fieldfares, two Pied Wagtails, ten Stock Doves, nine Meadow Pipits, a Mistle Thrush, 103 Woodpigeon over, 11 Redwings, three male Bullfinches, a Goldcrest, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, three Yellowhammers, two Red-legged Partridges and a Grey Heron today. (Mark Grieve).

WWT Slimbridge/Slimbridge village     The five CATTLE EGRETS roosted on South Lake again. They flew off just after 8am and were relocated in Slimbridge village in the field immediately adjacent to the A38 roundabout, best viewed from the gate near the Legion shop, they were here for an hour but then flew off again. They were back in the field late afternoon until 4:45pm at least then they flew over the canal at 5:37pm and flew back towards WWT presumably to roost. (Slimbridge Sightings/Roy Shilham/Roger Scase/Edward Betteridge). They were there until 10:40am at least, but then flew off again. Lydney     Belated news of a BLACK REDSTART yesterday (25th) c1/2 mile downriver of Lydney Harbour mouth on the “anti-erosion” boulders along the foreshore. Also a Cetti’s Warbler calling at the lakes on Harbour Road. (John Phillips).

Frampton     A BITTERN sunning itself on top of rushes on the far side of Court Lake at 2:30pm today. (Terry Grant). A GREAT WHITE EGRET flew in to roost on Court Lake island with 15 Little Egrets at 6pm. (Nick Goatman).

Cotswold Water Park East     A GREAT WHITE EGRET still present at Pit 119b at 3pm today. Also a Grey Heron, a Little Egret and a Grey Wagtail and a Green Sandpiper on Pit 119. (Alan & Kit Williams).

Forest of Dean     A GREAT GREY SHRIKE at the open area at the top of Staple Edge (same place as last year) also a pair of Stonechats and Redwings and Fieldfares. (Phil Mugridge). Another MEALY REDPOLL ringed early this morning at Crabtree Hill. (Robin Husbands).

WWT Slimbridge     A HOOPOE flew S past Kingfisher hide at 11:07am. (Dave Creber). The fully winged, unringed Ruddy Shelduck has returned to the Asian Pen. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Cleeve Hill     Early morning a RING OUZEL on the scarp below the masts by the bench.  In and around the Bill Smyllie reserve 100+ Fieldfares, c200 Redwings, two pairs of Bullfinches, five Long-tailed Tits, a Buzzard, a Raven, a Jay, a Green Woodpecker and a Great Spotted Woodpecker.  Also a Muntjac on the road up Aggs Hill. (Steve Brown).

Shab Hill     This morning a Peregrine, 784 Golden Plovers, 24 Skylarks, a male Stonechat, 250 Starlings and c100 Linnets. (Gord & Margaret Avery). Also six Bramblings feeding on the road down to the viewpoint. (Duncan Dine).

Newent     A Hen Harrier flew S about a mile outside Newent at 4:45pm today. (William Bick). c80 Lesser Redpolls,12 Crossbills,11 Siskins and a Brambling heard overhead at Newent Woods. (Andy Jayne).

Cotswold Water Park East     A Swallow at Pit 131 today. (Duncan Dine).

Forest of Dean     Three Crossbills over the car park at Speech House, then at
Crabtree Hill c250 Lesser Redpolls, and at least one MEALY REDPOLL. At New Fancy View four Bramblings flying past and an adult male Goshawk perched. (Keith Vinicombe). Two MEALY REDPOLLS and c140 Lesser Redpolls were rung today at Crabtree Hill and  possibly 1000 Redpolls moved through during the day 8am-5pm so can’t be sure if the Mealies are still around. Cleeve Hill     A first-winter RING OUZEL on brambles, right out of the radio masts car park towards the gallops. Also two Stonechats, a Wheatear, c200 Fieldfares and c50 Redwings today. (Tom Mabbett).

Leighterton     A SHORT-EARED OWL moving through N early afternoon. Also a Red Kite. (John Overfield).    

Frampton pools     A adult Yellow-legged Gull still on the floating hut on the Sailing Lake, the Tawny Owl roosting in Court Field, four Little Egrets on Court Lake, in the Gravel Wash a Siskin and a Lesser Redpoll with 20 Goldfinches, a Chiffchaff, 40 Fieldfares flew NW and a Redwing in sub-song. (MK). Later 28 Skylarks, 23 Siskins, 78 Fieldfares, 18 Redwings, a Pochard, 24 Shovelers, 21 Gadwalls, 75 Tufted Ducks, 11 Teal and four Wigeon. (Nick Goatman).

Uckington     A MERLIN this afternoon at 2:20pm over fields behind the House in the Tree Pub to the east of Withy Bridge Lane. (Gordon Avery).

Cotswold Water Park East     A Dunlin, a patch tick, also 448 Tufted Ducks, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Siskin and a Peregrine at Pit 125. (Ian Ralphs).

Eastleach Downs    50 Skylarks, 20 Linnets, 30 Meadow Pipits and several Red Kites today. (Ian Ralphs).

Symonds Yat     The Peregrine pair, a male and female Goshawk, five Buzzards, Siskin flocks, a Treecreeper, Jays, Redwings, a Hornet, a Red Admiral and Fallow Deer rutting today. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Six Mute Swans, two Wigeon, 151 Teal, 12 Mallards, two Shovelers, two Grey Herons, a Sparrowhawk hunting, a Snipe, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, drumming already, 60 Fieldfares, 40 Redwings and a Cetti’s Warbler. (Mike Smart).

Tewkesbury     At Severn Ham eight Cormorants in flight, a Skylark and two Chiffchaffs calling. (Mike Smart).

Purton     Two Tawny Owls first heard then seen together in same tree at 6:30pm by the Timber Ponds. (Paddy Doyle).
