Damery     The HOOPOE again today at 3.10pm on the grass verge at Mule Lane near to the motorway bridge, then flew off in the direction of the A38. (Zara Bowers/David Poulton). It was also seen in a private garden on Damery Lane. (per Geoff Poulton).

Painswick    This morning at 8:48am at Painswick golf course 12 Redwings. A Nuthatch next to the graveyard wall and 33 Greenfinches. On the Beacon a male and a female Stonechat. Along Sevenleaze Lane a male and female Siskins. (Marie-Claire Chapman).

Cleeve Hill     100 +Fieldfares, 16 Yellowhammers, many Meadow Pipits and Skylarks, five Ravens and a pair of Stonechats this morning. (Martin Greenish).

Frampton pools     A LAPLAND BUNTING flew over calling heading S at 7:30am. (Nick Goatman).

Woodford     A Hobby over at 4:45pm and the YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER reported as still around at midday. (Paul Taylor).

Epney     A Short-eared Owl at Rodley (seen from Epney) at 10am mobbed by crows. Also an adult female Peregrine, a Common Sandpiper, three Dunlins and 35 Curlews. (Eric Palmer).

Gloucester     At Horsebere Brook Flood Storage Lake today birds included five Mute Swans, two Teal, 20 Mallards, three Grey Herons, 16 Moorhens, eight Coots, two Snipe, a Buzzard, two pairs of Stonechats and 15 Meadow Pipits. (Gordon Avery).

Witcombe Reservoirs     A female Wigeon, eight Teal, 22 Mallards, two male Pochards, 20 Tufted Ducks, seven Little Grebes and a Grey Wagtail. (Gordon Avery).

Woodford     A HOOPOE flew up the bank at the end of the old A38 cul-de-sac at 8:40am. It was then seen occasionally throughout the day, usually in flight. (MK). Also the YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER showed again briefly this afternoon. (Lee Gardiner).

Forest of Dean     At Soudley ponds at the museum end a Kingfisher, a Dipper, a Grey Wagtail, four Buzzards, a Goshawk and the OSPREY again until 10am when it flew off E, then  again at 2pm. (Frank Williams/Les Ditchburn).

Frampton pools     Late afternoon a Yellow-legged Gull, six Chiffchaffs, 127 Tufted Ducks, seven Siskins, four Tawny Owls, two Little Owls and five Little Egrets. (Nick Goatman).

Eastington    A Kingfisher at Churchend, a Dipper at Millend and a Grey Wagtail at the canal picnic spot. (Steve Brown).

Saturday 15th October 2016

WWT Slimbridge     A CATTLE EGRET late afternoon from Zeiss hide and later South Lake.  (Tom Weston-McClung). Also a female Redstart in the hedge at the Holden Tower. (Morag Hughes).

Woodford     A YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER showing well and calling until 1:30pm at least, by the old A38 by the river tunnels under the A38. (Vic Savery).

Rodley     The RICHARD’S PIPIT still today at 11am at SO722122 in the first field after the end of Garden Cliff, on the river side of the flood bank. Then not again until 2:50pm, it may have been on the Framilode side of the river. It was in both the first and second field from Garden Cliff until 3:45pm at least.  (Paul Masters/Mark Hobson). Also a late Wheatear. (MK).

Forest of Dean     An OSPREY still showing well perched and in flight today at Soudley Ponds. (Steve Dark).

Painswick Beacon     Five Swallows, a Brambling, a Lesser Redpoll and 25 Fieldfares. Also a Wheatear and two Stonechats around the trig. (Francis Steuck).

Also six Mute Swans, seven Canada Geese, four Wigeon, 84 Teal, 12 Mallards, four Shovelers, two Grey Herons, a Little Egret, five Snipe, a Redshank, a Kingfisher, a Sparrowhawk, five Meadow Pipits SW, 20 Redwings, a Cetti’s Warbler, two Chiffchaffs calling, 25 Goldfinches and three Reed Buntings. Leigh/Cobney Meadows     A Mute Swan, five Mallards, a Teal, a Grey Heron, two Little Egrets, five Snipe, a Green Sandpiper, seven Skylarks and a Meadow Pipit. (Mike Smart/Les Brown).

Cleeve Hill    At least four RING OUZELS together on Cleeve Hill this afternoon at 2:15pm, feeding on Hawthorn bushes laden with berries along with Redwings. At the foot of the escarpment cliff by the small wood on the cliff-side to the N of Prestbury Hill Reserve at SO985253. (Rob & Petra Crofton).

Berkeley shore     Two Snipe, two Wheatears and three Stonechats this morning along Berkeley Pill to the Severn.  (Vic Polley).

Epney     Four Ruff on the river opposite the Anchor Inn. (Jeremy Squire).

Forest of Dean     At Crabtree Hill four Stonechats and 6+ Reed Buntings, at Woorgreens Lake 21 Coots, eight Canada Geese, two Little Grebes, a Cormorant, a Snipe, two Moorhens and two Wigeon today.  (Frank Williams).

Withington    On the eastern edge of Withington  c100 Fieldfares and a few Redwings. (Laurie Pierce).

Hawling     At least ten Red Kites today and nearby 100+ Fieldfares at Roel Gate. (Ian Hull).

Frampton pools     This evening 13 Little Egrets and two Grey Herons came in to roost, also two Tawny Owls. (Nick Goatman).

Cheltenham     The Christ Church Peregrines fledged three young this year (25 in 7 years). The number of prey species has now reached 35 with surprise items each year.  This year the clear up revealed a Sandwich Tern (a spring carcase) and an autumn Golden Plover.  Like last year a Kingfisher was caught and also Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers and a Jay. (Dave Pearce). Tirley Sandpits     Four Mistle Thrushes, 30+ Pied Wagtails, 32+ Skylarks, a Green Woodpecker, 32+ Meadow Pipits, a White Wagtail, 15+ Goldfinches, 150+ Linnets, three Yellowhammers, 11 Redwings, two Bullfinches and two Stock Doves. (Mark Grieve).

Dumbleton     At Dumbleton Hall birds included five Black Swans, 60+ Jackdaws, a Goldcrest, c100 Pheasants, seven Buzzards, three Ravens, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Treecreeper, a Nuthatch and a Red Kite flying E. (Harold Smith).
