Berkeley shore     A STORM PETREL early afternoon, later off of Sharpness until predated by gulls. Also a FULMAR flew N upriver late morning. (Paul Taylor). A Wheatear, three Yellow Wagtails and 26+ Linnets seen along the sea wall S of Berkeley. (Neil Smart).

WWT Slimbridge     A CATTLE EGRET reported from Knott hide early afternoon but flew off and no further sign. (Bob Radford). A Curlew Sandpiper on the Rushy and a further three Curlew Sandpipers with two Ringed Plovers on South Lake. Also a BLACK TERN still and 112 Black-tailed Godwits on South Lake and a Garganey from Zeiss hide again. (Neil Smart). Also today a Knot and a Little Stint and two Swifts flew down the estuary at 8am. (Martin McGill).

Forest of Dean     Six Ravens flying around together above Forge Hill, Lydbrook this morning. (Chris Sullivan). At Crabtree Hill a Grasshopper Warbler ringed this morning. Saturday 20th August 2016

WWT Slimbridge     A Curlew Sandpiper on the Rushy 1:15pm. (In Focus Slimbridge). Two juvenile BLACK TERNS from 4-4:30pm t least from South Lake. Also a Turnstone from Zeiss hide, a KITTIWAKE S, 12 Ruff (8juvs), a Mediterranean Gull and 6+ Greenshank. Also a Seal sp off of the Dumbles. (Tom Weston-McClung). From  Zeiss Hide at 4:45pm a Wood Sandpiper, two Ruff and 6+ Yellow Wagtails. (Pete & Marjo Lewis).

Coombe Hill Meadows     A pair of Mute Swans with four cygnets, 122 Greylags, 126 Canada Geese, two Barnacle Geese, a juvenile Shelduck, an eclipse Wigeon, 50 Teal, 135 Mallards, a Shoveler, a Cormorant, two Little Egrets, five Grey Herons, 49 Lapwings, three Dunlin, six Snipe, three Greenshanks, three Green Sandpipers, 50 Swallows, two Whitethroats and five Chiffchaffs today. Saul Warth     Four Pintail flew in from the N then went onto the river this morning. (Gordon Hodgson).

Gloucester    At Horsbere Brook today a Little Egret, an adult and juvenile Little Grebe, a Sparrowhawk, a Common Sandpiper, two Greenshanks, a Snipe and 50 Goldfinches. (Andy Jayne).

Cheltenham     A Swift over Swindon Lane this evening. (Laurie Pierce).

Lydney     7+ presumed Common Sandpipers, 75+ Swallows heading upstream and a Wheatear in the Docks area. (Frank Williams).

Cotswold Water Park (East)     At Pit 132 today a juvenile female Peregrine chasing a Hobby, also an adult female Peregrine, six Egyptian Geese, 102 Teal, ten Little Egrets, three Buzzards, 27 Lapwings, three Common Sandpipers, two Green Sandpipers, two Green Woodpeckers, two Lesser Whitethroats, four Wheatears and five Yellow Wagtails. Nearby at Pit 126 another five Egyptian Geese and ten Common Terns and at Pit 127 a Greenshank heard and another Lesser Whitethroat. (Andy Jayne/ Jake King).

Forest of Dean     At Cannop ponds a Cormorant, at least three Little Grebes and a Spotted Flycatcher this afternoon. (Ian Elphick).

Cranham     In the village this evening five Swallows, two Bullfinches, a Green Woodpecker, a family of eight Chaffinches and two Tawny Owls heard calling to each other after dark SO893128. Also three Pipistrelles. (John Fletcher).

Wednesday 17th August 2016

Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning a Green Sandpiper, a Sedge Warbler, several Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs and Whitethroats, a Redstart and close views of a female Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, in the first large Willow on the N side of the canal from the wharf car park. (Mark Longland).

Forest of Dean     This afternoon at Woorgreens Lake a Peregrine over at 3:30pm. Also a Little Grebe, four Tufted Ducks and seven Coots. At Crabtree Hill four Jays, a Meadow Pipit, two Blackcaps and two Nuthatches. (John Fletcher/Martin Greenish). This morning at Crabtree Hill two Redstarts, three Stonechats, a Whitethroat and Crossbills heard. (Frank Williams).

WWT Slimbridge     On the estuary this morning two Little Stints and two Curlew Sandpipers amongst 35 Dunlins and 33 Ringed Plovers in flight. Also a male Goshawk around today. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Westbury-on-Severn     A juvenile Marsh Harrier at Garden Cliff at 12:30pm it circled around a bit then drifted off high towards the NW. Also two Redstarts and a Yellow Wagtail in the same area. (John & Viv Phillips).

Lower Slaughter     Two recently fledged Tawny Owls this evening. (Richard Tyler).

Frampton     At the Sailing Lake this morning a Yellow-legged Gull, Yellow, Grey and Pied Wagtail, two Willow Warblers, a mixed flock of 50+ Swallows and House Martins and a Kingfisher. (Nick Goatman).

Coombe Hill Meadows     A Mute Swan pair with four cygnets, 69 Greylags, 55 Canada Geese, two Barnacle Geese, a juvenile Shelduck, 15 Teal, 60 Mallards, a Shoveler, 19 Little Egrets, three Grey Herons, four Little Ringed Plovers, 57 Lapwings, eight Snipe, three Dunlin, a Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper, two Skylarks, two Whinchats, a Sedge Warbler, two Whitethroats, c5 Chiffchaffs and c5 Bullfinches. Epney     An adult Yellow-legged Gull in the roost opposite the Anchor Inn this afternoon. (Roberta Goodall).

Brockweir     A female Pied Flycatcher in the garden for the last two days, a garden first. (Paul Wilkins).

May Hill    This morning on top of May Hill two Spotted Flycatchers and a Treecreeper in the pines and 20+ Linnets in the gorse. (Rob & Gillian Guest).

WWT Slimbridge     On South Lake today four Ruff, 70 Lapwings, a Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, 118 Black-tailed Godwits and 18 Redshanks. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Berkeley shore    A Yellow-legged Gull, three Wheatears, four Common Sandpipers, a juvenile Peregrine and 13 Greylags today. (Paul Taylor).

Miserden     At Rough Bank SSSI two Spotted Flycatchers (one juv), eight Ravens, a family of Bullfinches and a Jay scolding a Little Owl, butterflies included an Essex Skipper, a Brown Argus and a Chalkhill Blue today. (Vic Polley/Andy Lewis/NCOS field meeting ).

Coombe Hill Meadows     80 Greylags, 30 Canada Geese, two Barnacle Geese, three Dunlins,  three Little Ringed Plovers, a Ringed Plover, 13 Snipe, eight Green Sandpipers, 32+ Lapwings, two Grey Herons, 19 Little Egrets, three juvenile Bullfinches, three Whinchats and a Redstart seen but others calling, at least seven Great Spotted Woodpeckers, six Stock Doves, five Teal, good numbers of young Whitethroats and Chiffchaffs and a few Sedge Warblers still. (Ian Hull/Les Waring). Brockworth     Off Guan Road from the uphill footpath straight ahead near Coopers Edge School two Tawny Owls heard calling and three Buzzards circling in distance towards Modewyke.  (John Fletcher).

Eastleach     A large post-breeding flock of 54 Mistle Thrushes at Eastleach Downs Farm today. (Ian Ralphs).

Frampton pools     This morning a Dunlin over, a Yellow-legged Gull, a Swift, four Lesser Whitethroats, 32 Chiffchaffs, three Willow Warblers, 12 Common Terns and three Grey Wagtails.  (Nick Goatman).

WWT Slimbridge     Five Ruffs on South Lake, four Dunlins from Zeiss hide, a Common Sandpiper on the Rushy and a total of nine Green Sandpipers. (Paul Taylor). Also 137 Black-tailed Godwits and two Kingfishers. (Paul Daunter).
