Tresham     A QUAIL heard calling at 9pm from the road just to the W of the village coming from the cereal field at ST798910. (Vic Polley). This morning a Red Kite, three Corn Buntings, ten Swifts and a Whitethroat family from the farm track to the S of the village and a Spotted Flycatcher in the village centre. (Geoff Moyser).

Leighterton     Two Little Owls near the base of a tree by the road to Knockdown at ST824906, look SW from the metal gate. Also six Swifts over the village. (Geoff Moyser).

Frampton pools     A Green Sandpiper, four Oystercatchers, a Yellow-legged Gull, all five Common Tern young are flying around, two young Black-headed Gulls are doing well, 12 Swifts, four Little Egrets and five Grey Herons. (Nick Goatman).

Tewkesbury     At 3pm a WHITE STORK circling high over the battlefield, drifting SW. (Les Ditchburn).

WWT Slimbridge     At 12:55pm an immature Mediterranean Gull on South Lake. (Dot Jones). 

Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area the resident Peregrine pair and two Strathdon Cliff juvenile Peregrines, Buzzards, Ravens, House Martins, Swallows, Swifts, five Mandarins and Stock Doves. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Forest of Dean     In the Cannop Ponds area Buzzards, Ravens and a family of Grey Wagtails. Other sightings included Painted Lady, Silver-washed Fritillary, Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Large White, Comma and Red Admiral butterflies, a Golden-ringed Dragonfly, a Brown Hawker, Banded Demoiselle, Azure, Blue-tailed and Common Blue Damselflies. Coombe Hill Meadows     12 Mute Swans, a pair of Canada Geese with five goslings, a male Wigeon, two female Gadwalls with a creche of c8 ducklings, several Mallards with ducklings, female Tufted Duck with six ducklings including a Mallard duckling, an adult and a juvenile Little Grebe, three Little Egrets, a Coot with four chicks, four Oystercatchers, two of them flying chicks, 15 Lapwings including two full grown chicks and a Green Sandpiper. Odd bursts of song from Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Willow Warbler, Whitethroat and Chiffchaff. Four Curlews on a neighbouring cut hayfield, the male and two colour-ringed chicks from the nest at Hasfield, accompanied by a third flying unringed juvenile, presumably from a successful local nest. Cirencester     A pair of Parakeets, probably Ring-necked, in Cirencester Park today, reportedly present since the spring. (Janette McCall).

Forest of Dean     A Red Kite gliding over Whitecroft toward Coleford at 3pm. (Bernie Dumbleton). A Red Kite briefly circling over Forge Hill, Lydbrook at 12:45pm. (Chris Sullivan).

Cam     A Red Kite over Tesco at 11am. At Rackleaze Nature Reserve behind Tesco a flyover Hobby, a Kingfisher, three Song Thrushes, four Blackcaps and Long Tailed Tit, Blue Tit and Chiffchaff fledglings seen. (Jonathan Bull).

Leighterton     At 10pm a Little Owl on a roof a short way down the road to Didmarton at ST821904 and then 10 minutes later three Little Owls nearby standing on the road to Knockdown at ST824906 feeding off insects watched in stationary car headlights. (Vic Polley).

Coombe Hill Meadows    The two colour-ringed juveniles and adult female Curlew from Hasfield Ham nest again today. Also two Red Kites, two Buzzards and a Sparrowhawk. (Ian Hull).

Ashleworth Ham    This morning 73 birds caught during the Constant Effort Site ringing visit. Best bird was a juvenile Grasshopper Warbler, which had already completed its post-juvenile moult, so may not have been locally bred. Other notables included a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker, three Redstarts (ad & 2 juvs), seven Sedge Warblers, eight Whitethroats, two Lesser Whitethroats, four Blackcaps, two Willow Warblers, eight Chiffchaffs, 11 Goldfinches, two Bullfinches and four Reed Buntings. On the reserve a Reed Warbler still singing and small numbers of Sedge Warblers and Reed Buntings singing. Cleeve Hill     A Kestrel, Skylarks, Meadow Pipits, Goldfinches, Linnets, Ravens, Yellowhammers, a Green Woodpecker and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. Other sightings included Large Skipper, Marbled White, Small Heath, Ringlet, Meadow Brown and Brown Argus butterflies, Cinnabar and Chimney Sweeper moths and Common Blue damselflies. Cotswold Water Park West     At Shorncote Reedbed around Pits 85a and b birds today included three Common Terns, a Kingfisher, a Red Kite, an Oystercatcher, three Lapwings, two Buzzards, a Kestrel, a Little Grebe, a pair of Mute Swans with eight cygnets, 13 Mallards, male and female Tufted Duck, a Gadwall, two Grey Herons, four Bullfinches, two Greenfinches, three Grey Wagtails, a Green Woodpecker, two Stock Doves, five Swifts, a Swallow, two Cetti’s Warblers, eight Sedge Warblers including a family of five, three Reed Warblers and seven Reed Bunting. track running S from Tresham near the overhead wires and a Hobby disturbing a flock of 40 Linnets, returning 10 minutes later. Also 2+ Corn Buntings. No cars down the track please, as the farmer is nervous about more thefts in this area. (Vic Polley).

Cherington     Around Cherington Lake mid afternoon ST 899985 male and female Bullfinch, two Jays, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Green Woodpecker, five Song Thrushes, a Treecreeper, a Garden Warbler singing, two Nuthatches heard, nine Long-tailed Tits, five Blackcaps, two Buzzards, four Mallards and seven Wrens.
