WWT Slimbridge     A SPOONBILL on the Rushy this morning, later relocating to Zeiss hide with a second bird roosting on the river. Forest of Dean    Along Cannop brook below Nagshead birds included a male Pied Flycatcher, a Spotted Flycatcher, an adult Nuthatch feeding young and two juvenile Grey Wagtails. Nearby a Green Woodpecker, two Siskins, 3+ Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries, two Small Coppers and a Large Skipper. (MK).

Nailsworth/Avening/Cherington         A Marsh Tit appeared to enter a nest hole at Nailsworth Garden Centre. An adult Marsh Tit feeding fledged young at Nag’s Head, Avening and a Marsh Tit close to Cherington Pond at ST895991. Also three pairs of Tufted Ducks on the pond. (Jake King).

Gloucester     At Alney Island this afternoon two Cuckoos singing, 1 along the riverside (Port Ham) and seen at SO815191 and 1 heard on Castlemeads at SO823185. (Ian Elphick).

Forest of Dean     At Cinderford Linear Park a Green Woodpecker, a Willow Warbler, Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, two Buzzards, a male Redstart, and a Tree Pipit. Other sightings included ten Wood Whites, a female Brimstone, Common Blue, Dingy Skipper, Orange Tip, Small White and Red Admiral butterflies, Cinnabar Moths, a pair of Broad-bodied Chaser dragonflies mating and egg laying over a newly made pond and a Sloe Bug. Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area the Peregrine pair, a Grey Heron, Buzzards, Blackcaps, a Wren feeding chicks in the nest, a Mandarin duck with ten ducklings, a nesting pair of Kingfishers, House Martins, Swallows and Swifts. Cotswold Water Park West     At Shorncote Reedbed and along the nearby hedges around Pit 85a and b this afternoon birds included eight Common Terns, a Great White Egret, two Little Egrets, two Oystercatchers, two Great Crested Grebes, male and female Tufted Duck, four Gadwalls, two Grey Herons, a Cormorant, 75 Canada Geese, seven Stock Doves, eight Sand Martins, five Whitethroats, four Reed Warblers, two Cetti’s Warblers, three Sedge Warblers, a Green Woodpecker, a Greenfinch, four Goldfinches, seven Linnets, nine Reed Buntings, a Buzzard and two Kestrels. Twyning     A Spotted Flycatcher on telephone wires in the garden at Church End this evening. (Mike Jones).

Stroud     A Red Kite circling over Butterow early afternoon today, then it returned a couple of hours later only 20ft above the house on Butterow Lane and circled again before flying off. (Steve Pitman). A Red Kite over Kitesnest Lane, Lightpill at 4:30pm possibly the same bird, also a Swift. (Giles Diggle). At Frome Banks Dippers feeding a second brood and a Kingfisher with large fish flew by. (Mike Davis).

Haresfield     At 2:45pm a Red Kite at SO828110 over a silage field. (Ian Elphick).

Prestbury    In East Prestbury on fields cut for silage a flock of Lesser Black-backed Gulls, two Red Kites, and a Buzzard. Also a Yellowhammer, a male Cuckoo, a Willow Warbler heard and young Goldcrests in bushes along Cockroft Lane. Also a Ring-necked Parakeet heard in flight at 2:16pm and at 6:12pm in the centre of Prestbury. (Ken Heron).

Churchdown     Garden birds today included an adult male Great Spotted Woodpecker, a pair of Bullfinches, a pair of Blue Tits and five youngsters, and a pair of Great Tits. (Margaret G).

Forest of Dean     At Nagshead a Goshawk, a LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER and two Wild Boar sows with four boarlets. (Andy Brazil). At Crabtree Hill early evening today a Hobby circling high before flying off W. (Terry Stevenson). 12 Swifts over the garden in Cinderford today. (Owen Follis).

Slimbridge     A Great White Egret flew over the W side of the village this morning, heading E and towards the A38. (Scott Petrek).

Frampton pools     This morning around the pools a Great White Egret, four Little Egrets, a Cuckoo, four Common Terns, three Oystercatchers, three Shelducks, a Yellow-legged Gull, two Great Black-backed Gulls, 60+ Swifts, 30+ House Martins and a Tawny Owl. (Nick Goatman).

Tewkesbury     At 10am a Red Kite circling over the cemetery then drifting slowly SW. (Les Ditchburn).

Forest of Dean    A Red Kite over Morse Road, near Nailbridge flying towards Cinderford. (Greg Jones). At Nagshead today a male Redstart, a Grey Wagtail, a Mandarin family and a Treecreeper at the Lower hide. Also male and female Pied Flycatcher, a male and female Siskin, a Coal Tit, a Nuthatch, Garden Warblers feeding young near the nursery pool, Blackcaps and Song Thrushes. (Alan Jones). Along Cannop brook a Kingfisher and an adult Tawny Owl being mobbed by Blackbirds and a Song Thrush, a pair of Grey Wagtails with 2+ young and dozens of Beautiful Demoiselles, a Garden Warbler at New Fancy View and a Siskin at Cinderford. Frampton Sailing Lake     A Dunlin by the Sailing Club for 30mins, 4-5 Common Terns, including one metal ringed bird, two Great Crested Grebes, two Sparrowhawks, a Stock Dove and a Whitethroat today. (Jonathan Bull).

Winchcombe     Early morning a Cuckoo calling, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers and three Swifts circling overhead. (Gill Worthington).

Hucclecote    A pair of Mallards in the garden today and also yesterday. (Harold Smith).

Crickley Hill     On the scarp today two Dingy Skipper, many Brown Argus and a Burnet Companion. (Andy Brazil).

Symonds Yat     From Yat Rock viewpoint today the resident Peregrine pair and another Peregrine pair a short distance to the W of the viewpoint, Buzzards, Ravens, a pair of Kingfishers, House Martins, Swifts, Swallows, a male Blackcap, a Jay, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers and a female Goosander. Longney     In the old orchards and along the Severn Way and hedgerows this afternoon birds included five Willow Warblers, three Blackcaps, four Chiffchaffs, a Pied Wagtail carrying food, seven Greenfinches, two Song Thrushes, a male Reed Bunting, two Sedge Warblers, a Reed Warbler, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Cuckoo heard, a male Sparrowhawk, a Buzzard and two young Jackdaws calling out from a low tree hole in an old apple tree.
