Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the resident Peregrine pair and another confirmed nesting pair nearby, a Hobby, a female Sparrowhawk, Buzzards, Ravens, a female Goosander with seven young, Swallows, House Martins, Swifts, Stock Doves, a Spotted Flycatcher, a male Blackcap, a Grey Heron, a Jay and a Pied Wagtail. Other sightings included five Fallow Deer, a Bank Vole, Rose Chafers, Brimstone and Common Blue butterflies. Frampton pools     A Mediterranean Gull, a Yellow-legged Gull, two Great Black-backed Gulls, six Common Terns, a Great White Egret, a Siskin, two Lesser Whitethroats, six Whitethroats, 43 Blackcaps, 26 Chiffchaffs, two Yellow Wagtails, a Grey Wagtail, 15 Reed Warblers and 14 Swifts today. Oakridge     At Strawberry Banks N.R. SO0910033 4+ Marsh Fritillaries, also Dingy Skippers, Orange Tip, Peacock, Small Heaths, Common Blues and Comma. Birds included 1+ Nuthatch, two Buzzards, a Raven, a Stock Dove, 2+ Blackcaps, a Chiffchaff and six Long-tailed Tits. (MK).

Cheltenham    At Prince of Wales Stadium 12 Swifts overhead, a Chiffchaff heard and a family of House Sparrows chirping on the railway embankment. (Howard Taylor).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Along the canal singing Blackcap, Sedge Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting and Cuckoo. Also a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Little Egret flew over. From Grundon hide 26 Mute Swans, two pairs of Canada Geese (one with five goslings), five Shelducks, 12 Lapwings, a Dunlin, a Ringed Plover, two Oystercatchers, three Curlews, a Grey Heron and four Swallows. Also Brimstone, Peacock, Orange Tip, Speckled Wood and Green-veined White butterflies and Hairy Dragonfly, Broad-bodied Chaser, Azure and Blue-tailed Damselflies. Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area the Peregrine pair and another Peregrine on Great Doward hill nearby, Buzzards, Ravens, Stock Doves, Swallows, House Martins, Swifts, a Blackcap, Chiffchaffs, a nesting pair of Kingfishers and a pair of nesting Treecreepers. Other sightings included a Wood Mouse,a Bank Vole, Green Longhorn moths, a Rose Chafer, Ashy Mining Bees, Holly Blue and Speckled Wood butterflies. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Saul Warth     200+ Shelducks, a pair of Gadwall, a pair of Oystercatchers, a pair of Skylarks, three Linnets and six House Martins through N this afternoon. (MK).

Batsford     This afternoon a Jay in the Arboretum and a male Green Woodpecker feeding in the pasture beyond the N boundary. (Andy & Sue Gibbons).

Stonehouse    A very tatty looking Red Kite cruised above Regent Street, circled over Wycliffe College, then drifted towards Stanley Downton at 7:45am. (Paul Sutton).

Maisemore     Either side of Church Road near and around the pool late afternoon birds included the two male Wood Ducks, believed escapes, and the male Red Crested Pochard of unknown origin. Also a pair of Mallards with seven ducklings, a pair of Tufted Ducks, two Moorhens, a Canada Goose, a pair of Mute Swans, two Willow Warblers, four Chiffchaffs, five Blackcaps, three Song Thrushes, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Red-legged Partridge and a pair of Wrens with five fledglings. WWT Slimbridge     The near-adult WHITE-WINGED BLACK TERN seen earlier at Frampton appeared briefly on South Lake at 10:10am and then flew to the Tack Piece, but flew N after 15 minutes. It came back to South Lake at 1:05pm briefly then flew off N over the Centre again but returned to South Lake at 1:40pm where it remained until 4pm when it flew N again. Around the pools four Greenshanks, seven Common Terns, a Yellow-legged Gull, four Oystercatchers, two Hobbies, a Goshawk, a Sparrowhawk, 6+ Sand Martins, nine Chiffchaffs, 15 Blackcaps, a singing Reed Warbler by the Sailing Club and another in the Blue Pool and one by Nastfield Farm. Forest of Dean     A Red Kite circled over the Lydney Lake at 12:15pm before flying off towards Lydney Harbour and the River Severn. On the River Lydd beside the lake Canada Geese with two goslings, 13 goslings and six goslings. Also a Mandarin with six young and Mute Swan with three young on the lake. (Bob Broughton).
