Leigh Meadows     A pair of Mute Swans with a cygnet on the Chelt, five Canada Geese, two Cormorants, a Snipe, a Green Sandpiper, a Kingfisher and 20 Swallows. (Mike Smart).

Coombe Hill Meadows     First WeBS count of the autumn, birds included 83 Greylags and 55 Canada Geese coming in to roost, 140 Teal, five Shovelers, four Snipe and a Green Sandpiper. Also two Little Owls calling and c20 Swallows gathering at dusk. (Mike Smart).

Nailsworth     At 6pm this evening over Windsoredge, 100+ House Martins and a Sand Martin all chased off by a Hobby. (Roy Bircher).

Quedgeley     A Hobby again low over Shelduck Road, present in the area for five days. Also still a few active House Martin nests at Millers Dyke. (Steve Pullen).

Hock Ditch, Fretherne to Hope Pill, Arlingham     This afternoon an adult and a juvenile Spotted Flycatcher and a Chiffchaff at Fretherne, four Little Egrets, a Grey Heron and a Buzzard at Awre, a juvenile male Redstart, a Chiffchaff, a Swallow and two Yellow Wagtails at Hope Pill by the pylons. Cotswold Water Park East     At Pit 132 a Greenshank, three Little Egrets, a Peregrine, three Hobbies hawking for insects, a Green Woodpecker and two Yellow Wagtails over. (Jon Mercer).

Purton     An immature/female GOLDEN ORIOLE at the timber ponds at 8:25am calling and seen in flight. It flew into the Willows at the back of the ponds. Also c50 Blackcaps, a Spotted Flycatcher, 15 Chiffchaffs, six Lesser Whitethroat, three Whitethroat, two Willow Warblers, two Yellow Wagtails, a Garden Warbler, a Reed Warbler, a Hobby, a Common Sandpiper, a Whimbrel and a Black-tailed Godwit. Vismig included eight Wigeon with a Pintail, three Grey Wagtails, two Tree Pipits, 90 Swallows and 30 House Martins. (Francis Steuck).

Symonds Yat     From Yat Rock viewpoint today the Peregrine pair, a Goshawk, six Buzzards, a Raven, a Grey Heron, Swallows, House Martins, two Stock Doves, a Little Egret and a Marsh Tit. Other sightings included Speckled Wood, Large White and Holly Blue butterflies, two Bank Voles and two Fallow Deer. Stinchcombe Hill     Early morning a Wheatear, a Redstart, 32 Pied Wagtails, two Meadow Pipit, a Common Gull, a steady movement of hirundines along the scarp including Sand Martins and plenty of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps. (James Robinson).

Cotswold Water Park East     At Whelford Pools GWT reserve this afternoon birds included on Pit 111 five Great Crested Grebes, two Little Grebes, six Red Crested Pochards, four Gadwalls, seven Tufted Ducks, 35 Mallards, two Cormorants and 27 Coots. On Pit 111B six Cormorants, a Little Grebe, two Great Crested Grebes, a Grey Heron and two Tufted Ducks. On Pit 126 a Peregrine flushed the 102 Lapwings but failed to catch one. Also six Red Crested Pochards, a male Gadwall, 210 Tufted Ducks, seven Great Crested Grebes, 18 Greylags and three Grey Herons. (John Fletcher).

Hock Ditch to the masts at Arlingham     A Wheatear, a Yellow Wagtail, three Chiffchaffs, two juvenile Reed Warblers, a Lesser Whitethroat, a Nuthatch and a Treecreeper in Long Wood, a Peregrine and two Spotted Flycatchers in the tall dead trees next to the cream coloured house by Fretherne church. Three Little Egrets and two Grey Herons across the river at Awre. Also 8+ Migrant Hawkers and 2+ Common Darters, a Hornet and butterflies included Green-veined White, Small Coppers and a Comma. (MK).
