Forest of Dean     A male LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER seen and heard drumming at Nagshead this morning. Also c20 Hawfinches at Parkend by the cricket pitch in Crown Lane. (Thomas Winstone). In the Crabtree Hill area today the GREAT GREY SHRIKE was at SO632135. Also at Drybrook Road Station two pairs of Crossbills and a mixed flock of tits with c10 Lesser Redpolls. Nearby at least four pairs of Goosander at Woorgreens lake. (Phil Pope). Arlingham     The RICHARD’S PIPIT still this morning in the small field with the little hawthorn tree by the river’s edge at SO718118. It also gets in the surrounding fields but doesn’t move far. This afternoon it was favouring the area between two sets of barbed wire fence, between SO72041169 and SO71761183 until 3:11pm at least. Also four Stonechats and four Meadow Pipits also in the area. Park sensibly in Arlingham village. Take the public footpath on the left after Slowwe House (don’t take the Silver Street Project trail). Birds included 395 Canada Geese, 34 Greylags, 29 Pintails, 19 Shovelers, a Barnacle Goose, 100+ Wigeon, 21 Teal, a Grey Heron, four Gadwalls (2m, 2f), four Tufted Ducks, a Peregrine, three Buzzards, a Treecreeper, two Goldcrests, a Nuthatch, two Long-tailed Tits and 118 Lapwings over. Ashleworth Ham     A GREAT GREY SHRIKE sat atop a willow along the main ditch opposite the hide in Meerend Thicket at 8:30am. The 3rd for Glos this year. Other birds today included a Cormorant, five Mute Swans, 250 Canada Geese, 15 Greylags, a Barnacle Goose, 200 Wigeon, a male Gadwall, 100 Teal, 74 Mallards, 14 Shovelers, three Tufted Ducks, 10+ Pintails, 40 Lapwings and seven Snipe. Coombe Hill Meadows     Birds today included 360 Canada Goose, 16 Mute Swans, 23 Greylags, 55 Mallards, 106 Pintails, ten Shovelers, two Tufted Ducks, 1860 Wigeon, 1070 Teal, a Grey Heron, 198 Lapwings, a Curlew,  two Black-tailed Godwits and a Kingfisher on the canal. Coombe Hill Meadows     The Grundon Hide now easily accessible, almost no water left on the boardwalk, but the circular walk is still not passable because of floodwater. Birds today included c3000 Wigeon and c1500 Teal, at least 254 Pintails, 30 Shovelers, six Gadwalls, 50 Mallards, two Mute Swans, c250 Canada Geese and 100 Greylags, 15 Coots, two Grey Herons, 100 Lapwings and a Curlew. Tewkesbury     At Mitton on the wet field behind the sailing club 30 Wigeon, 20 Teal, 50 Mallards and five Shovelers. (Mike Smart).

Saul Warth     A WATER PIPIT still this morning and a Rock Pipit nearby at Hock Ditch. (Paul Rich).

Ashleworth Ham     From the hide at Meerend Thicket, six Meadow Pipits, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Buzzards, 250+ Teal, 150 + Wigeon, 35+ Shovelers, 33+ Mallards, 46+ Pintails, four Gadwalls, two Lapwings, a Shelduck, a Snipe, a Bullfinch, two Grey Heron and a Mistle Thrush. (Mark Grieve).

Walmore Common     Four adult Bewick’s Swans, the first of the winter here. Also three Whooper Swans, 33 Shelducks, 570 Teal, three Pintails, 22 Shovelers and 260 Lapwings. (Andy Jayne).

Frampton pools     A Green Sandpiper, a Pochard, 21 Gadwalls, 81 Tufted Ducks, 23 Shovelers, a male Pintail, eight Canada Geese. three Greylags, a Kingfisher, four Little Grebes, four Curlews over, a Tawny Owl and a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming today. (Nick Goatman).

Cotswold Water Park West     A drake RING-NECKED DUCK at the N end of Pit 31 until 2:25pm at least. Pit 31 is Keynes Country Park (where the beach is). Gates are open between 10am and 3pm during the winter, there is no entry charge. A SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF seen and heard calling by Pit 42 mid afternoon. A probable Siberian Chiffchaff at Pit 85, Shorncote Reedbed, also at least three Common Chiffchaffs, a Grey Wagtail, a Goldcrest and Cetti’s Warbler. (Paul Rich).

Great Barrington     A ringtail HEN HARRIER from Barrington Bushes trig point at 1:15pm SP213160. (Roger Gillespie).

Gloucester     The PENDULINE TIT at Plock Court, Longford still today at SO837204. Wellies essential currently. Please keep a reasonable distance from the bird to allow it to feed in the ponds. (Matt Scott).

Winchcombe     Five Hawfinches in flight in Sudeley Castle grounds this morning, a patch tick. (Steve Owen).

Eastleach     At Eastleach Downs Farm a Hawfinch this morning. Also a Reed Bunting, 12 Corn Buntings, a Stonechat, three Ravens and 12 Red Kites.  (Ian Ralphs).

Silk Wood     This morning a Hawfinch along the Maple Loop at ST842892. (Vic Polley).

Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the Peregrine pair, Buzzards, Ravens, a female Kestrel, three Bullfinches (2m, 1f), a Goldcrest, Jays, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Marsh Tits, a pair of Mandarins, a Grey Heron, a Treecreeper and three male Goosanders. Coates     A juvenile Goshawk near Coates this morning. Also a large flock c1000-1200 of mixed finches and sparrows mainly Goldfinches, Linnets and Chaffinches, several Yellowhammers, Corn Buntings, seven Bramblings and at least one Reed Bunting near SO955019. (Michael Cook).

Coombe Hill Meadows     The Grundon Hide is now comfortably accessible in wellies, water calf deep on the boardwalk. Birds included five adult Mute Swans, 500 Canada Geese, 200 Greylags, a Barnacle Goose, c1500 Wigeon, c1200 Teal, two Gadwalls, 50 Mallards, at least 93 Pintails, 29 Shovelers, eight Tufted Ducks, two Grey Herons, 240 Lapwings, a Curlew, 200 Black-headed-Gulls, a Pied Wagtail, two Redwings and a Treecreeper singing. Twyning     At Upham Meadow a Peregrine, two Mute Swans, 125 Canada Geese, two Greylags and 45 Carrion Crows. (Mike Smart).
