Tewkesbury     A GREAT WHITE EGRET was again along the River Avon towards Twyning and at Severn Ham there was a female MERLIN, a Water Rail, two Blackcaps and 40 Meadow Pipits. (Andy Jayne).

Symonds Yat    Today in the Yat rock area the Peregrine pair and an intruding Peregrine, three Buzzards, Ravens, two male Goosanders, two Song Thrushes, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Green Woodpecker, a Bullfinch, two Grey Herons, a Kingfisher, three Goldcrests, a Marsh Tit, two Stock Doves, a flock of Long-tailed Tits, a Jay and four Fallow Deer. Nailsworth     Six Little Grebes together on an unfrozen patch of water on the mill pond adjacent to the cycle track at SO844003. (Susanne Zamze).

Duntisbourne Abbots     In fields N of the road between Jackbarrow Farm and Duntisbourne Abbots three Golden Plovers and c40 mobile Common Gulls (SO9607). In fields between Duntisbourne Abbots and the A417 c120 Fieldfares with c30 Redwings. (Keith White).

Ashley     Along the Monarch way path 172+ Fieldfares, 56+ Redwings, five Buzzards, ten Song Thrushes, 20+ Blackbirds, a Kestrel, 8+ Yellowhammers, 36 Skylarks, 75+ Linnets, a Mistle Thrush, a Green Woodpecker, 30+ Stock Doves, two Jays, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Nuthatches, two Goldcrests, 20+ Chaffinches and 85 Common Gulls on plough. (Mark Grieve).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Practically all the birds were round a hole in the ice on the Long Pool and included two Mute Swans, two Canada Geese, a Shelduck, 40 Wigeon, 60 Teal, 15 Mallards, ten Shovelers and two Grey Herons, a Coot on the Long Pool and five on the canal, also two Stonechats alongside the footpath. Ashleworth Ham     Two Mute Swans, 61 Greylags, 200 Wigeon, 700 Teal, 20 Mallards, two Pintails, 15 Shovelers, 25 Snipe. Also a Marsh Harrier was seen flying past at some height by another birder. (Les Brown/Mike Smart).

Cotswold Water Park East    At Bowmoor Sailing Lake Pit 125 a pair of Egyptian Geese, at Pit 126 35 Shovelers and a Shelduck. At Pit 104 18 Goosanders (10m, 8f). At Kempsford sewage plant a minimum of five Chiffchaffs today. (Duncan Dine).

stonechat-200117Highleadon     20 WAXWINGS landed briefly in a stripped Rowan tree in the garden of a house at Highleadon Green on the B4215 (Gloucester to Newent road at SO770232 opposite the Upleadon and Hartpury road junction) at 3:30 pm this afternoon, then they flew across the road to an Ash tree where they stayed for 10 minutes before lifting off and heading roughly W towards Tibberton/Taynton. Stonehouse    A Buzzard in the Horse Chestnuts at St Cyr’s Church, a Kingfisher on the wires over the Ocean near Stonehouse Court then flew E along the canal, up to four Cormorants in the area, a Water Rail and two Little Grebes on the canal between The Ocean and Bonds Mill and a Goldcrest following a small mixed tit flock.
