Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area the Peregrine pair, Buzzards, Ravens, a male Sparrowhawk, Swifts, Swallows, House Martins, a Grey Heron, a Blackcap, a Mistle Thrush and five Mandarins. Also a White-legged Damselfly, a Rose Chafer and Meadow Brown, Ringlet and Large White butterflies. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Forest of Dean     At Nagshead reserve dipping pond Buzzards, Ravens, a female Blackcap and Swifts. Also Silver-washed Fritillaries, Large, Small and Green-veined Whites, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Ringlet and Large Skipper butterflies, Azure and Large Red Damselflies, Broad-bodied, Four-spot Chaser and Southern Hawker dragonflies. Coombe Hill Meadows     One or two Lapwings probably with chicks, an Oystercatcher with at least one full-grown chick, two adult Redshanks with two flying chicks from different broods, a Curlew, 180 Lapwings feeding on southern meadows, a Green Sandpiper, a Black-tailed Godwit, a male Ruff with a black ruff on orange plumage, c9 Teal, five Mute Swans, two Canada Geese with two goslings, two Little Egrets, three Gadwalls, a Cuckoo still singing, at least two Reed Warblers singing and still song from Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat and Reed Bunting. Forest of Dean     The GOLDEN ORIOLE showed briefly at Spruce Ride today at SO628114 at 12:45pm but remained silent from 12:30 to 1:45pm. (Richard Mundy). Between 4– 8pm no Oriole but a Goshawk, a Spotted Flycatcher and three Hawfinches. (Terry Fenton).

Lydney     At Lydney harbour this morning, 18 Goldfinches, ten Greenfinches, three Swallows, a House Martin, two Blackcaps, a Sedge Warbler, a Chiffchaff, two Pied Wagtails and a Skylark. (Iain Crawford).

Tewkesbury     A singing Cuckoo on the far side the Ham this morning near the weir. Also Curlews, Skylarks, Swallows and Swifts. (Jeff Clarke).

Leigh Meadows     A singing Reed Warbler in a small reedbed where the new River Chelt meanders are beside the A38. (Mike Smart/Juliet Bailey).

Forest of Dean     No sign of the Golden Oriole at Spruce Ride today, birders on site until 1:30pm at least. Five Hawfinches including a juvenile at Spruce Ride and 11 Crossbills and a Garden Warbler nearby at Horse Lawn. Ashleworth Ham     Two Buzzards, a Chiffchaff, a male Reed Bunting, a Sedge Warbler, a male Blackcap, two Grey Herons, a Willow Warbler, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, Swallows, and House Martins. Other sightings included Beautiful and Banded Demoiselles, Large Red and Azure Blue damselflies, a male Broad-bodied Chaser, Ringlet, Comma, Small White, Large White, Green-veined White, Red Admiral, Brimstone and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies and a pair of Leopard Moths mating. Cheltenham      A Tawny Owl has been a regular visitor each evening this week but last night accompanied by two vocal young, in St Nicholas Drive. Also two Hedgehogs in the garden. (Laurie Pierce).

Forest of Dean     The GOLDEN ORIOLE in the cherry trees along Spruce Ride, at the nearest point to Speech House lake gave two brief bursts of song at 12:30pm SO628113, but not seen. (Terry Fenton). This morning a Wood Warbler singing by the car park and two Silver-washed Fritillaries. (MK).

Sapperton     Near Sapperton on the wires a family of six Linnets, two Yellowhammers and a Corn Bunting. (Michael Cook).

Hardwicke      This morning two Hobbies over high up and a c8 Marbled Whites in the grassland and a pair of Grey Wagtails near one of the balancing ponds. (Michael Cook).

Forest of Dean     A GOLDEN ORIOLE in the cherry trees along Spruce Ride, at the nearest point to Speech House lake around SO 62715 11424, and further SE along the ride. It was singing quite frequently from 11am until midday at least and again from 3:30-4:20pm but largely silent after that and not seen again by dusk. It is very hard to see but was seen in flight a couple of times and a couple of very brief views perched. There is no phone signal in this area. (John & Viv Phillips).

WWT Slimbridge     On the Tack Piece two SPOONBILLS, eight Little Egrets, two Green Sandpipers and a Greenshank. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Frampton     On Court Lake this evening a GREAT WHITE EGRET, a Little Egret, three Oystercatchers, 75 Greylags, 89 Mute Swans, 137 Barnacle Geese and 59 Canada Geese. (Nick Goatman).

Quedgeley     A Peregrine carrying a pigeon over Quedgeley bypass at 8am. (Gareth Jones).

Dursley     Two Red Kites flew over W at 11:58am and another Red Kite headed towards Dursley down the Uley valley. (Geoff Moyser).

Arlingham     This evening two Little Owls at 9:20pm one at SO718106 at Overton near Arlingham and then another at SO727098 beside Overton Farm, both perched on telegraph poles. (Paddy Doyle).

Rodborough     Three juvenile Great Spotted Woodpeckers on garden feeders again this morning at Little London. (Nigel Denman).

Hawling     Along the bridle path from Roel Hill Farm to Hawling a Little Owl, four
Buzzards, five singing Corn Buntings and a family group, a family group of
Redstarts near the farm and two males near the village, three Stock Doves and

Gloucester     At 2:15pm three Red Kites circling together on a thermal above the landfill/household recycling area at Hempsted. (Jan Datchens).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Seven Mute Swans, a pair of Canada Geese with two goslings, a male Wigeon on the Long Pool, a female Mallard with five ducklings, three Little Egrets, a Grey Heron, a pair of Oystercatchers with at least two almost fledged chicks, at least 77 Lapwings, an immature Little Ringed Plover, three Redshanks, a Curlew, a Cuckoo still singing, five Swifts, singing birds included a Reed Warbler, Skylark, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, c6 Reed Buntings and a Yellowhammer. At Lower Apperley a late burst of song from a Lesser Whitethroat.
