Fretherne to Arlingham      From Hock Ditch to Hope Pill from midday, six Wheatears presumably the same as at Saul earlier, a Hobby, a Kestrel, two Buzzards, two Ravens, a Little Egret, nine Swallows and a Reed Bunting. On the Awre side two more Little Egrets and nine Curlews. Also three Southern Hawkers, butterflies included Painted Lady, Red Admiral, Common Blue and Green-veined White. (MK).

Nailsworth     A HONEY BUZZARD flying E at 11:15am and at least seven Swifts. (Terry Grant).

WWT Slimbridge     Highlights today included two juvenile Curlew Sandpipers, a Little Stint and four Sanderlings at Mid Point, a Garganey and a Spotted Redshank from Zeiss hide, a juvenile Little Ringed Plover on the Rushy and a Marsh Harrier from Holden Tower.  (Slimbridge Sightings).

Selsley     Four Wheatears on the common in the quarry area today at 4:30pm. (Colin Greenfield).

Ashleworth Ham     A ringing session today caught 105 birds, notably two juvenile Whitethroats, a juvenile Lesser Whitethroat, two juvenile Blackcaps, 16 Chiffchaffs (1 ad, 15 juvs), an adult Willow Warbler, 14 Long-tailed Tits, a juvenile Jay and 43 Goldfinches. On the reserve 20 Mallards, two Teal, a female Sparrowhawk, a Whimbrel, up to 100 Swallows moving through and four Whinchats in the hedges. (Mervyn Greening/Mike Smart).

Frampton pools     This evening the GREAT WHITE EGRET and the Yellow-legged Gull still, two Hobbies, a Water Rail, a Cetti’s Warbler, 17 Chiffchaffs, three Blackcaps, two Willow Warblers, 20 Teal and two Kingfishers. (Nick Goatman).

Down Ampney     50+ Swallows feeding over a field at 7pm. (Mark Grieve).

Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning 80+ Lapwings, two Buzzards, a Kingfisher, 40+ Linnets, 30+ Goldfinches, steady flow of Swallows 100+ followed by 20+ House Martins, 60+ Canada Geese, three Chiffchaffs, three Whinchats, a Bullfinch and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. (Les Waring).

Bussage     Three Peregrines over the Toadsmoor valley this morning at 10:35am high in the sky soaring on the thermals for 30mins before heading W towards the Severn. Six House Martins and two Swifts still feeding over Bussage at 6:45pm and two Pipistrelles and a Natterer’s Bat at 9pm taking moths under the streetlights (ID’d by bat detector). Five Painted Ladies, seven Small Tortoiseshells, four Red Admirals, two Peacocks a Comma and a Small Copper on the Sedum in the garden. (Michael Cook).

Cleeve Hill     12 Wheatears, nine Redstarts, a Whinchat, ten Stonechats, a Nuthatch, a Marsh Tit and a Whimbrel over. (Tom Mabbett).

Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the Peregrine pair and one of their juveniles, a female seen, two Hobbies (ad & juv), nine Buzzards together, a female Goshawk, a Sparrowhawk, a Linnet, Swallows, House Martins, a Greenfinch, three Ravens, pair of Stock Doves, a LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER, a Marsh Tit and a Mistle Thrush. Other sightings included Holly Blue, Small Tortoiseshell, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Large White, Green-veined White and Comma butterflies and a Roe Deer buck. From Martin Smith hide a Cetti’s Warbler. From Robbie Garnett hide, 15 Gadwalls, 30 Teal, two Green Sandpipers, six Meadow Pipits, eight GCRP Common Cranes, two Whitethroats and a Chiffchaff. Along the Summer Walkway/Mid Point, a Willow Warbler, a Sand Martin, two Swallows, four Meadow Pipits, 25 Goldfinches, two Kestrels, a Wheatear, a Reed Bunting, a Reed Warbler, 45 Shelducks, three Cormorants, 45+ Dunlins, a Sanderling, a CURLEW SANDPIPER, a Redshank, 53+ Ringed Plovers, a male Peregrine, three Chiffchaffs, , a Little Egret, a Grey Heron, a Blackcap and 26 Curlews. Frampton pools     A FIRECREST at the top of Vicarage Lane early but no sign in the afternoon. The GREAT WHITE EGRET on Court Lake until 2pm at least and the adult Yellow-legged Gull on the Sailing Lake still, also three Green Sandpipers, three Common Terns, a Yellow Wagtail, a Whitethroat, 32 Chiffchaffs, six Blackcaps and two Willow Warblers. (Nick Goatman). A Kingfisher on each lake, a Water Rail on the Gravel Wash pools, a Little Egret on each lake and a Swift at 3:25pm. (MK).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Four Whinchats late afternoon. (Ian Ralphs/Graham Smith). Also 150+ Canada Geese and 60+ Greylags flew in from the N, 100 Mallards, seven Teal, 95 Lapwings, three Green Sandpipers, two Skylarks, c100 Swallows and 20 House Martins, lots of juvenile Chiffchaffs, 60 Linnets and 20 Goldfinches. Barrow Ponds     A pair of Mute Swans with five cygnets, 140 Canada Geese, 50 Greylags, a Barnacle Goose, a Little Egret, six Cormorants, 50 Swallows and 50 House Martins today. (Mike Smart).

Painswick Beacon     From 6am-8:45am 1455 Swallows, 837 House Martins, 60 Meadow Pipits, ten Tree Pipits, a Raven and a Crossbill. (John Fleming).

Minchinhampton Common     This morning a Spotted Flycatcher, a Lesser Whitethroat, three Whitethroats and four Willow Warblers. (Francis Steuck). Also two Yellow Wagtails. (Terry Grant).

Rodborough Common     A Redstart this morning. Visible migration included 250 House Martins, 30 Swallows, two Swifts, three Grey Wagtails and three Tree Pipits. (Francis Steuck).

Hempsted     A Wheatear at Netheridge Farm this morning. (Mark Hobson).

Arlingham     A female Wheatear late afternoon on the S side of Arlingham, on the edge of a field near the Severn at SO704099. (Antony Seabright).

WWT Slimbridge     A leucistic Swallow flying S and a Swift today. (Terry Grant).

Symonds Yat     From Yat Rock viewpoint today the Peregrine pair and one juvenile, two Buzzards, Ravens, a Little Egret, a Jay, House Martins, Swallows, a Kingfisher, a Collared Dove, two Stock Doves, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Marsh Tit, a Grey Heron and three Mistle Thrushes. Also a Small Tortoiseshell and a Meadow Brown butterfly. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Cheltenham     In Swindon Village a Tawny Owl flew low across the garden at SO947242 and landed on an aerial of a house on Swindon Lane at 8:30pm. First record here since the 1970’s. (Laurie Pierce).

Ashleworth Ham     Last of the 12 summer Constant Effort ringing sessions caught 145 birds, notable amongst them a Woodpigeon, six Swallows, two Redstarts, at least two Whinchats present, one of them caught, a Sedge Warbler, ten Whitethroats, six Blackcaps, 33 Chiffchaffs, 13 Willow Warblers, a Goldcrest, 24 Long-tailed Tits, a Goldfinch, four Bullfinches and two juvenile Reed Buntings. Rodborough     At Rodborough Common this morning a Wood Warbler, four Lesser Whitethroats, two Redstarts, a Tree Pipit, two Yellow Wagtails and two Whitethroats S of the fort. Also a Swift and 20 Swallows flew S. (Francis Steuck).

Symonds Yat     From Yat Rock viewpoint today the adult Peregrines and a juvenile, two Goshawks, a Hobby, a male Sparrowhawk, a Kestrel, Buzzards, Jays, Ravens, two Little Egrets, a LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER, Stock Doves, a Marsh Tit, six Linnets, two juvenile Grey Herons, House Martins and Swallows. Other sightings included Red Admiral, Common Blue, Holly Blue and Speckled Wood butterflies, a Hornet and two Fallow Deer does with a fawn each.
