Forest of Dean    An adult Dipper by the Stoneworks at Cannop Ponds at noon. Also 20 Swallows. (Bettie Sloane). At Woorgreens a Sparrowhawk in hot pursuit of a shrieking Green Woodpecker. (Dave Clarke).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Eight Whinchats in front of the Grundon hide feeding in the weedy ditch. (Ian Hull). Also a Stonechat and a Little Egret. (Paul Clark).

Selsley Common     Male and female Redstarts and a Wheatear at 4pm. (Rich Hearn). Earlier two adult female Wheatears. (Terry Grant).

Westonbirt     Two Spotted Flycatchers on the old Arboretum side today. (Mark Hobson).

Halmore   A male Redstart today, also a group of four newly-fledged Chiffchaffs. (Chris Newton).

Nailsworth Valley     78 Swifts flew S this morning. (Terry Grant).

Woodchester Park     A male and female Stonechat feeding at least one young fledgling near the entrance to the park. A large movement of warblers through the Sweet Corn crops by the entrance, Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, Whitethroats and at least one Garden Warbler. (Terry Grant). Pics by Terry.

Eastington (Northleach)     A Common Sandpiper and an adult and young Grey Wagtail on the River Leach S of the sewage works. (Andy Lewis).

Frampton pools     A SPOTTED CRAKE seen briefly this evening. Also seven Little Egrets, four Common Terns and a juvenile Sparrowhawk. (Nick Goatman).

Cirencester     A Wood Warbler today flycatching in the north edge of Moss’s Copse, Cirencester Park, SO9902. Also in the same area at least four Spotted Flycatchers. (Martin Wright).

Saul Warth     This morning five Crossbill flew W at 9:40am, also three Whinchats, two Stonechats, a Redstart, three Lesser Whitethroats, three Whitethroats and a Willow Warbler. Nailsworth    A CATTLE EGRET flew N up the Nailsworth Valley at 8:02pm, the first known record for the area. (Terry Grant). In bushes around Barton End this morning 14 Willow Warblers, eight Chiffchaffs, a Garden Warbler and a Tree Pipit. A Yellow Wagtail and Grey Wagtail flew over S. (Francis Steuck).

Tewkesbury     The GREAT WHITE EGRET was mobbed by a Grey Heron this evening, then landed briefly on Glos side of the Avon, before flying back towards the sailing club again. (Sarah Loaring).

Slimbridge to Purton     From Shepherd’s Patch to Purton along the canal a Whimbrel, two Curlews, a Little Egret, two Common Cranes, a Kestrel, four Buzzards, 6+ Chiffchaffs, a Reed Warbler and a Willow Warbler. Kempsford pits     Birds today included four Chiffchaffs, five Blackcaps, five Willow Warblers, eight Whitethroats, a Lesser Whitethroat, three Goldcrests, three Song Thrushes, 26 Goldfinches, a Greenfinch, a Yellowhammer, five Swallows, a Jay, 13 Stock Doves, a Green Woodpecker, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a male Kestrel, a Red Kite, two Hobbies, four Buzzards, a male Peregrine, 53 Coots, three Great Crested Grebes (1 juv), a Grey Heron, four Common Sandpipers, 118 Lapwings, a Common Tern, a Little Egret, 15 Mute Swans, 16 Mallards, two Red Crested Pochards, 11 Tufted Ducks, six Egyptian Geese, a Canada Goose, 24 Greylags and three Cormorants. Nailsworth     A GREAT SKUA flying from the NE, eventually turning W towards the River at 8:10am. Brief watches today saw at least 103 Swifts moving S, 1-2 Hobbies and a male Peregrine harassing two Ravens. (Terry Grant).

Frampton pools     This evening an adult Yellow Legged Gull still on the Sailing Lake, three Common Terns, 14 Swifts, 18 Sand Martins, three broods of Tufted Ducks, a Sedge Warbler and a Willow Warbler. (Nick Goatman).

Tewkesbury     The GREAT WHITE EGRET just down from the Sailing Club again today. (Sarah Loaring).

Berkeley shore    No sign of yesterday’s Lesser Emperor this morning. Highlights today included an adult Yellow-legged Gull, ten Common Sandpipers, 14 Redshanks, six Curlews including two head-started birds and five Yellow Wagtails. (Paul Taylor).

Purton     A Tree Pipit and a Yellow Wagtail S, a Turnstone on Tites point breakwater at high tide and three Willow Warblers in the bushes. (Francis Steuck). No sign of yesterday’s Lesser Emperor in a 3 hour search. Best birds two Whimbrels, a Common Tern and a Kingfisher. Dragonflies included Emperors, Brown Hawker, Black-tailed Skimmer, Common Blue and Red-eyed Damselflies and a Brimstone butterfly. (Paul Masters/MK).

Stinchcombe Hill     This morning a juvenile Pied Flycatcher and a juvenile Spotted Flycatcher on 17th tee bushes. Good numbers of Chiffchaffs with smaller numbers of Willow Warblers, also a Nuthatch, a Garden Warbler, Coal Tits, Goldcrests and a family party of Bullfinches. (James Robinson/Neil Smart).

Tewkesbury    At The Mythe today at 2:30pm, an adult female Pied Flycatcher feeding by the small bridge at SO88643421. Also several White-legged Damselflies and a Brown Hawker. (Rob Crofton). A Red Kite circling over at 4pm. (Les Ditchburn).

Berkeley shore     This morning a Whimbrel, eight Oystercatchers, 11 Common Sandpipers, five juvenile Yellow Wagtails and 12 Little Egrets. Also a male LESSER EMPEROR near Severn House Farm. (Paul Taylor). An Avocet at Berkeley Pill. (Andy Jordan).

Purton     A male LESSER EMPEROR still late morning from the canal towpath 200m N of the bridge just before the water works. (Paul Taylor).

Netheridge Farm     A SOUTHERN MIGRANT HAWKER at the Barn Owl Centre this morning for the 3rd year running. (Mark Hobson).

Sharpness     A Green Sandpiper and 15 Common Terns flew S, also a Tufted Duck. (Andy Jordan).

Nailsworth     Between 2:30pm and 7pm 582 Swifts, seven Swallows and three Hobbies  flying S along the Valley. (Terry Grant).

On the Rushy 126 Black-tailed Godwits, seven Green Sandpipers and a juvenile Yellow Wagtail. WWT Slimbridge     This afternoon from Zeiss hide a Greenshank, often obscured by vegetation along the nearside bank; also two GARGANEYS at the far end of the channel seen from the S side of the hide at 2:30pm, then swimming out of sight. On the Rushy at 4pm two summer-plumaged Knot. On South Lake this afternoon the juvenile Great Crested Grebe showed well, in front of the hide. (Andy & Sue Gibbons). Whittington     At Arle Grove near Whittington today (SO995215) birds included two Treecreepers, a Marsh Tit, a Coal Tit, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Nuthatch and three Swifts. (Howard Smith).

Forest of Dean    Between 10-11am this morning along the river bank at Lydbrook seven Mute Swans, two Grey Wagtails, five Pied Wagtails, 12+ House Martins and eight House Sparrows. (Christine Mora).

Symonds Yat    A juvenile Dipper on a raft of rubbish on the Glos/Hereford border S of Symonds Yat today. (Mark Hobson).

Selsley Common     Between 7-9:30am 414 Swifts flew SW down the escarpment and a juvenile Mediterranean Gull flew N. (Francis Steuck).

Nailsworth     A trickle of Swifts flying S along the Valley today, 115+ seen in various short counts, also a male Peregrine. (Terry Grant).

Maisemore     On Church Road and along the lake to the weir early afternoon a Kingfisher, two Willow Warblers, nine Goldfinches, four Swallows, a male Bullfinch, a Whitethroat, two Linnets, a Song Thrush, three Reed Buntings, a Grey Heron, seven Mallards, seven Moorhens, a Red-legged Partridge, three Buzzards and six Mute Swans. Cherington     On the lake and in the surrounding woodland at ST898985 birds included five Bullfinches ( 2 pairs +1), two Green Woodpeckers, three Chiffchaffs, two Nuthatches heard, a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, two Song Thrush, three Chaffinches, six Goldfinches, three Swifts, three Buzzards, 75 Jackdaws, three Coots, two Moorhens, 14 Mallards and two Mute Swans. Tewkesbury     A GREAT WHITE EGRET flushed along the River Avon on the Glos side then landed on the bank by the Sailing Club. Also a pair of Common Terns up high over a freshly cut field along the River Avon. (Sarah Loaring).

Stinchcombe Hill    A fourth successful Spotted Flycatcher pair on the Hill, and a fledged Cuckoo between North Nibley and Stinchcombe Hill this morning. (James Robinson).

Cleeve Hill     A juvenile Wheatear at the trig point between Wardens Wood and the masts. On the return walk a second Wheatear, a Whinchat, a family of Stonechats, a Corn Bunting, Yellowhammers and Whitethroats. Also Small Copper, Marbled White and many Gatekeeper butterflies. Berkeley shore    A flock of 20 Yellow Wagtails, 7+ Oystercatchers, 5+ Curlews, two Common Sandpipers, three Kestrels and plenty of Swallows feeding along the roads. (Charlotte Foote/Tom Weston-McClung).

Nailsworth     1300+ Swifts flew S  between 2:20-3:25pm after feeding over fields at Hazelcote Farm, also a Red Kite. In various short counts throughout other parts of the day, 336 Swifts moving S down Nailsworth Valley. (Terry Grant).
