Ebley     On Doverow Hill this morning a young Tawny Owl calling and an adult seen later roosting in a tree, a family of Buzzards with two young and a female Sparrowhawk. This afternoon c30 Swifts, four Ravens and a Hobby flew over, and the Ring-necked Parakeet is still in Foxmoor Lane. (Steve Kear).

Frampton pools     This afternoon the adult Yellow-legged Gull and 4+ Common Terns on the Sailing Lake, two Green Sandpipers on the Blue Pool and six on Court Lake, a Little Egret on Court Lake and two Painted Ladies in the Gravel Wash. At Poor’s Allotment 19 Linnets, four Stonechats ( 2 ads, 2 juvs), eight Swallows, five House Martins, a Marsh Tit heard, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Green Woodpecker heard, two Buzzards, a Nuthatch. Coombe Hill Meadows     This afternoon four Snipe and a Green Sandpiper. (Adrienne Sanders). The Constant Effort ringing session today caught 32 birds including an adult female Redstart, 11 Whitethroats, four Blackcaps, a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker and a juvenile Reed Bunting. Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the resident Peregrine pair, Stock Doves, Buzzards, House Martins, Sand Martins, Swallows, Ravens, a Green Woodpecker, a pair of Kingfishers, a Little Egret and a Grey Heron. Other sightings included two Fallow Deer, a Bank Vole, Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Holly Blue, Painted Lady, Gatekeeper and Large White butterflies. Ashleworth Ham     This afternoon birds included two Red Kites, four Buzzards, a Sparrowhawk, 13 Mallards, two Canada Geese, two Grey Herons, four Red-legged Partridges, four Stock Doves, three Blackcaps, two Chiffchaffs, a Grey Wagtail, 160+ Jackdaws, 20 Rooks and 14 Carrion Crows. On South Lake a Common Sandpiper, 36 Redshanks, 374 Black-tailed Godwits, adult and chick Little Ringed Plover, three Ruff, 49 Lapwings and Curlew juvenile No 69. Coombe Hill Meadows    Seven Mute Swans, 92 Canada Geese, a male Wigeon, at least 13 Teal, at least four Gadwalls, three Shovelers, c6 Tufted Ducks, two Grey Herons, 20 Lapwings, an immature Dunlin, three Black-tailed Godwits, a Common Sandpiper, four Green Sandpipers, a Snipe, ten Swallows and ten Sand Martins, at least 200 Jackdaws along the canal and a Southern Hawker today. Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the resident Peregrine pair and a juvenile Peregrine on Great Doward hill, a Barn Owl on the rock face, Buzzards, a Green Woodpecker, a Jay, Stock Doves, a Grey Heron, Sand Martins, House Martins, Swallows, Ravens and three Mandarins. Other sightings included Fallow Deer, a Bank Vole, a Wood Mouse, Rose Chafers, Hummingbird Hawk Moths, Large White, Silver-washed Fritillaries, Gatekeeper, Speckled Wood, Painted Lady and Holly Blue butterflies. Maisemore     From Church Road around the pool and to the weir on the Severn late afternoon birds included the two released male Wood Ducks, the male Red Crested Pochard of origin unknown, 34 Mallards, male and female Tufted Duck, four Moorhens, two Mute Swans, five House Martins, two Swallows, four Sand Martins, two Stock Doves, three Goldfinches, three Great Spotted Woodpeckers and a Buzzard. Guscar Rocks/Aylburton Warth     At the Guscar end 37 Canada Geese, three Oystercatchers, five Dunlins, 458 Curlews (17 colour-rings from Wibdon 2011-2013, plus one of the Slimbridge head-started juveniles from this year), a Whimbrel, a Redshank, a Common Sandpiper, five Common Gulls and three Yellow Wagtails (1 juv). At Aylburton Warth end 18 Shelducks, six Grey Herons, two Oystercatchers, three Common Sandpipers, 200 Black-headed Gulls, two Great Black-backed Gulls, a Reed Warbler and a Reed Bunting.
